It’s another meaningful discussion on Vigattin Radio with co-anchors Mr. Den Macaranas and Ms. Arne Barcelo together with Mr. Elison Barcelo. Today they will be joined by the founders of Ripplrz, the first tech conference that convenes entrepreneurs, investors, top tech startup founders/mentors and developers which aims to bridge the gap between traditional business and startups.
The guests for today’s episode are: Ms. Beryl Li, Team Lead of World Startup Report and the Director for Southeast Asia – SeedAsia. World Startup Report aims to raise capital for new tech companies in Asia by connecting to eligible investors. Ms. Beryl is the one responsible for operations and partnerships in the South East Asia region. She is one of the developers of the SeedAsia model;
Mr. Bryan Osmeña-Yap, Founder and CEO of code Republiq, started as a traditional Dilipino Chinese serial entrepreneur and realize his passion for technology. He founded Code Republiq which started to service outsourcing IT development projects from US, Canada and Hongkong and;
Mr. Diego Jose Ramos, Founder of Techjob Asia, he is an insightful relationship and channel executive for over 15 years. His areas of mastery are start-up operations, recruiting, architecture and talent acquisition.
Mr. Bryan informed Vigattin Radio that “Ripplr is a different kind of tech even unlike the normal tech conferences. Basically in a normal tech event, startups are the one who pitched to the investors but in Ripplrz, the established business owners are the one who will pitch for their problems. The startup should come up with a solution so that when the owners liked their idea, they will fund the idea and will come up with the product and company.”
On why they founded Ripplrz, Ms. Beryl Li replied, “Because we want to connect traditional investors with engineers or technology startups to actually solve real management problems. Unlike in Silicon Valley or in the US, there are many companies that keeps on creating products but the value of the product really depends on solving the problem.”
She added, “And here in this country we have so many problems and we actually need solutions to this, sometimes people do not know what the problems really are. So now what we are doing is a reverse event which tackles the real problems so that we can actually find solutions to those problems.”
In other events, they start with the product first then they will look for a client but in Ripplrz, you already have the costumer and they are telling their problems that you should fix.
They continued to discuss about the tech conference and on how does it work. Bryan told Vigattin Radio that in their tech event, the product will be validated immediately and companies are willing to pay the product that they choose on a specific amount.
A lot of problems of startups are they can’t start their company because they don’t have seed funding but in Ripplrz the seed funding is actually lowered and once you have the right solution to provide the business, they will seed fund that project.
Later on, they answered questions from the listeners. The event will be participated by esteemed tech founders and mentors; they are Bowei Gai, founder of World Startup Report; David Condon, Founder/CEO of Axon IT Cons; Jorge Azurin, Regional Director of Freelancer.com; and Johnn Mendoza, CEO of Reminisense Corp and more.
For the mentors they are: Jay Fajardo of Proudcloud Inc.; Stephen Jagger, the Co-Founder of Payroll Hero; Jim Ayson, Strategic Partnerships SMART Communications; Mario Berta, Regional Managing Director of Rocket Internet GmbH and more.
The event will be concluded on May 19 at AIM Conference Center, Manila. The group plans to bring the tech conference in other parts of Asia. Ripplrz is certainly a way to give more hope to those who want to build their own startups and for those who want to show their programming skills that might be able to change the world.
