Vigattin Radio on Technopreneurship

This statement is the most common answer when a student is asked what to do after college, a proof of our 'employment-is-the-key-to-prosperity' mindset that hinders the full growth of entrepreneurship here in the Philippines. Less are those who thought of putting up their own business and lesser are those who thought of establishing technology on their businesses.

Vigattin Radio on Technopreneurship

"I will definitely work for a company after I graduate college."

As we talked about Technopreneurship and venture capitalism, Sir Emmanuel Yujuico, one of our guest last Saturday on Vigattin Radio, referred to entrepreneurship as 'putting up your own business and being your own boss' while technopreneurship is 'incorporating technology (IT) into the business'. And that’s what our other guests who are IT students from University of Sto. Tomas have in mind as they thrive to compete for the the Pasixlaban.

Pasixlaban is a 5-day reality Technopreneurship and Project Management Challenge. Its mechanics are based mainly on those of Ideaspace and Kickstart mixed with the concept of The Apprentice. The participants have to submit an entry to Ideaspace and then simulate how to manage their own project. The event shall be held on February 10 to 15.

Ms. Marya Magno, a participant of the event and one of our guest, submitted a Traffic and Flood Monitoring Website using IP Cameras and flood sensors to asses traffic and to identify the depth of the flood in an area respectively. Mr. Herb Patrick Hernandez on the other hand , submitted a Health Information System that enables hospitals to collect data from patients pre-emptively. As soon as patients arrive at the hospital, they can be immediately and accordingly assessed for their respective data were sent beforehand.

Other guests who are also participants for the event are Alvin Rustan Zhang, Hector Lorenzo Gilas and Marvin Villarico.

These young people are only few of the faces of the new geneartion thriving to become succesful not just for themselves but for the industry and for the future of the country.
