Today's Vigattin Radio program was a mixture of different topics altogether but are intertwined in the aspect of technology. We were joined by Mr. Jay Jazul of the UST Faculty of Pharmacy, Ms. Lilibeth Ferrer of The Address at Wack Wack, and Ms. Karla Yu and Mr. Lawrz Libo-on of 8layer Technologies Inc. representing MySQL Users Philippines.
For easier reading, I will list down the important points of today's Vigattin Radio discussion.
For our featured VigattinTrade.com member, Ma'am Lilibeth is a sales agency head of The Address at Wack Wack, a high-rise condominium which is now on the finishing stages of development. It is a signature project of the Madrigal-Bayot Development Corp. Expected turnover is within this year, so they are now pre-selling the units. Sir Jay has given so much insight about Pharmacy as a career. You may find it interesting that pharmacists are:
♦ not only seen in drugstores. They have a lot of career paths to choose from, especially in research, hospitals, and the academe.
♦ the only ones allowed to dispense drugs and medicine. Even doctors should seek guidance from a pharmacist when dispensing drugs in their own clinics.
♦ really needed in the industry. Nowadays, the demand for registered pharmacists is high but the supply is low.
Ma'am Karla and Sir Lawrz also talked about a bunch of informative things about MySQL, opensource software, and some events of 8layer. Here are some of them:
♦ MySQL is a relational database management system (RDBMS) that stores a huge collection of data in a systematic manner. It is used in web development, banking and finance, and goverment agencies, among others.
♦ Although MySQL has been acquired by Oracle, it continues to be a free and opensource software that any developer can use. However, if you want technical support, backup, and other features, you can subscribe to the enterprise version for a fee.
♦ Opensource software can actually compete with commercial ones in terms of features, user-friendliness, and overall functionality. Advocates ask that people try it first before they judge it.
♦ There will be a Software Freedom Day (SFD) which will be held on September 20-21 in Boracay! Everyone who's interested may join this international event. More information can be found at https://sfd.ph.
So, stay tuned every Saturday, 10-11 AM, for more discussions and technological collaborations only here in the Vigattin Radio Program at DZIQ Radyo Inquirer 990 AM.
