This was a very eventful Saturday for our Vigattin Radio Program because our guests are prominent players in the Philippine IT and startup scene. We were joined by Mr. Miguel Paraz, co-founder of IPhil Communications, one of the first Internet Service Providers in the country; Mr. Michael Marin, Managing Partner in WebGeek; and Mr. Paul Pajo, Developer Evangelist for Smart Communications, Inc. and Co-founder of Smart Developers Network.

This was a very eventful Saturday for our Vigattin Radio Program because our guests are prominent players in the Philippine IT and startup scene. We were joined by Mr. Miguel Paraz, co-founder of IPhil Communications, one of the first Internet Service Providers in the country; Mr. Michael Marin, Managing Partner in WebGeek.ph; and Mr. Paul Pajo, Developer Evangelist for Smart Communications, Inc. and Co-founder of Smart Developers Network.

Like our previous guests who belong to certain users groups (e.g. Ruby Users Group PH, PHP-UGPh, Java Users Group, etc.), Michael is also part of a community of developers - WebGeek.ph. From its website, "WebGeek Philippines is an online venue for local web and tech enthusiasts to network and collaborate. WebGeek has organized and hosted several major events over the past years as part of its advocacy to create a thriving community of like-minded tech devotees."

I've noticed that IT meetups, seminars, and events happen almost every week, and this is a really good thing for our local technology scene. These events serve as venues for networking and collaboration among like-minded individuals to create something bigger and more relevant to our society. This is the time when developers and programmers are going out of their rooms, labs, or other comfort zones to connect with the world. Of course, WebGeek and the other users group play a big role in providing the best place for this exchange of ideas.

Smart DevNet is another network of developers, especially those who are using Smart's Technology Platform. A very energetic Paul Pajo is its Developer Evangelist, someone who "preaches" the good news of technology and app development. Smart DevNet is very active in the local IT community and even sponsors various events and projects.

In connection with this, Smart DevNet is one of the sponsors and organizers of this year's biggest hackathon in the Philippines and in the whole world. AngelHack is a series of international hackathons that involve 39 countries and thousands of teams. Winners will have the chance to pitch their applications in Silicon Valley.
