Vigattin Radio gets bigger every airing because we had a Vigattin guest today. Mr. Dondi Mapa of Microsoft Philippines joined us in our discussion about Windows 8, the anticipated 2013 automated elections, and the future of IT in the country.
Windows 8, the newest operating system of Microsoft, is now trending in the online marketplace. With 60 million licenses all over the world, it is no surprise that Windows 8 is receiving positive feedback from customers and users. Mr. Dondi Mapa, National Technology Officer of Microsoft Philippines, mentioned that it is especially made for mobility and accessibility because applications made in this platform can be used in mobile phones, tablets, and desktops.
App developers are also encouraged to join competitions and hackathons hosted by Microsoft, like the ImagineCap which begins this February 1. IT students and professionals are all welcome to submit their creative and original applications that are socially relevant to people in Asia.
Also, the much anticipated automated 2013 elections was discussed. The system from last 2010 was further improved to patch loopholes that might cause some political disputes and trickeries, which admittedly were one of the biggest problems every election period.
Lastly, Mr. Mapa foresees a very good future of our country's IT industry. He believes that the creativity of our youth generation today is the key to a successful recognition of our IT industry in the global market.
