Vigan City in Ilocos Sur is among the 14 finalists for the New Seven Wonder Cities of the World. The heritage site has made it to the semifinal round joining 13 other cities all over the globe to compete for the final seven to be announced on December 7, 2014. It is the only nominee representing the Philippines.

The list revealed by New7Wonders founder and president Bernard Weber also included the cities of Barcelona (Beirut (Lebanon), Chicago (United States), Doha (Qatar), Durban (South Africa), Havana (Cuba), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), La Paz (Bolivia), London (United Kingdom), Mexico City (Mexico), Perth (Australia), Quito (Ecuador) and Reykjavik (Iceland).

Bernard Weber said during the announcement of the finalists, "this is a memorable day for all involved in the 14 successful city campaigns.” He added “The short-list is as inspiring as it is enlightening."

New7Wonders Founder-President Bernard Weber, revealing the 14 qualifying cities in Munich, the technology hub of New7Wonders. The 7 Official New7Wonders Cities will be declared on December 7, 2014.

Voting for the New Seven Wonder Cities will continue through the website: www.new7wonders.com. Other platforms will also be used for voting such as dedicated iPhone and Android apps, international telephone voting lines and, via national SMS.
