TravelTour Expo is the biggest event held for the travel and tourism industry. It was conceived by Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA) in 1994 to pave way for the exhibitors to promote their products and services. The exposition is a much awaited event for the travel business and in every year, the event attracts more than 60, 000 travelers/visitors. With more than 200 booths occupied by at least 250 firms.
Vigattin Radio invited Mr. Jojo Clemente, Project Director of TravelTour Expo to discuss the event. Mr. Clemente discussed on what to expect on the exposition. He said that three months ago, they already finished receiving some spots for the exhibitors and it is really hard for them to accommodate all the companies who are willing to join the exposition and thirty companies were left behind.
Due to this, TravelTour Expo wants to expand their venue and hopes to get the whole SMX Convention to accommodate more companies on their next event on 2015. He added that they already had the Center Halls 1 to 4 and Function Room 5. Although the venue is huge enough and the floor area is around 11, 000 square meter combined, the area still lacks some space to accommodate new companies and they might need to add more.
Project Director Jojo Director explained that they are already planning for the 2015 TravelTour Expo, resting only for two months after the 2014 Expo.
When asked about the problem they are facing yearly when organizing this kind of event: Mr. Clemente answered that the only problem that they are facing every year during the event is that the venue is becoming crowded, but they don’t face any disorder. He added that last year (2013), there are at least 70, 000 people who visited within three days and they face the same issues. At least now they already have an area on the second floor where people can go.
Mr. Jojo Clemente explained on how they select their exhibitors. First, it starts with the oldest exhibitors and after their registration, they start registering the newcomers. He also added that all of the exhibitors that are selected are members of PTAA so it is guaranteed the companies that will join the TravelTour Expo are legitimate.
Now on its 20th year, the TravelTour Expo 2014 is scheduled for three days. With the theme “Gateway to Getaways” It also features some performance of foreign groups like the Korean Tourism Organization. There are also presentation and giveaways from the sponsors. Guests can expect an impression of what anticipates them in their chosen destinations while having fun watching cultural presentations, souvenirs and reduced travel bundles from the exhibitors.
