The 32 Infantry Division Villa Verde Monument in Pangasinan commemorates an epic battle between American forces and the Japanese after the successfully landing at Lingayen Gulf, and it is now a solemn reminder of the province's distant past.
The Villa Verde Trail is located in Sta. Maria East, San Nicholas. A Red Arrow Monument stands in memory of great battle happened in the place. It was where the 32nd Division of the United States Armed Forces in the Far East saw action in the pursuit of the retreating Japanese Forces.
It is said that the trail got its name from a Spanish missionary who walked this path to spread Catholism to the region. Around 27 miles long, this trail starts off in the area of Santa Maria, Pangasinan.
Access from Manila to Lingayen:
From Manila there are various bus lines that offer trips to Lingayen. Dagupan Bus takes the Manila-Lingayen route. You can also take daily buses to Dagupan, and from Dagupan, board a bus or jeepney to Lingayen. Travel time is around 4-6 hours.
