The Cable News Network (CNN) released a review of the “Most Googled Destinations of 2013” that charts the most-searched tourist attractions in each country including the Philippines. Google is recognized as the most popular search engine in the world with a 71% percent of the world’s search engine market share.
Google’s yearly Zeitgest charts are a detailed look at Google searches all over the world. Here are the ten most searched-for Philippine travel destinations in the 2013 Google Zeitgeist rankings:
- Sky Ranch Tagaytay — a leisure park that is envisioned to be one of the definitive Tagaytay experiences for local and foreign tourists alike. It features the tallest Ferris wheel in the country at 63 meters with 32 gondolas. One can also enjoy the breathtaking view of Taal Volcano.
- Movenpick Resort and Spa — it is now renamed as Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu. It is a world class beachfront hotel and resort when one can experience a truly indulgent lifestyle experience with excellent facilities and exemplary services.
- Tubbataha Reef Natural Park — located in the Sulu Sea, it is the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) world heritage site. The reef was also cited in CNN’s 505 best diving sites in the world.
- Pico de Loro — the spot is formerly known to be a mountaineering spot until SM investment group developed it into a private beach club. Pico de Loro has a cove which is a 37.5 hectare of coastal community. It is situated in Nasugbu, Batangas.
- Tugawe Cove Resort — one of the best-kept tropical treasures in Caramoan, Camarines Sur. The resort has 23 cabanas that emit the warmth you want. It is famous for its infinity pool that gives you a fascinating scenery of the sea.
- Potipot Island — dubbed as the “Little Boracay of the North”, it is one of Zambales’ hidden gems. This island is perfect for nature lovers and adventure seekers. It can be found in Uacon in Candelaria, Zambales.
- Amana Waterpark —located in Pandi, Bulacan, it boasts of having the largest wave pool in the entire Philippines that includes a 3, 500 sq meter wave-pool that creates the biggest wave called “Diamond wave”. It offers 13 different kinds of wave that visitors can enjoy.
- Misimis Bay— a luxury tropical hideaway that is built on a pristine stretch of beach along the southernmost part of Cagraray Island in Bacacay, Albay. It is a five hectare island resort where tourists can have their exciting adventures.
- Nuvali — a commercial and residential development in Santa Rosa City, Laguna. It is owned by Ayala Land. It is a popular weekend destination for Metro Manila residents. The sprawling development shows how modern architecture added with a touch of nature can co-exist.
- Laiya Resorts – an emerging vacation spot in San Juan Batangas. Laiya has different white sand beach resorts which is becoming popular among tourists and vacationers alike.
The Philippines was also ranked No. 10 in India’s most Googled travel destinations last year, along with Macau , Mauritius, Maldives, Bali, Boston, Dubai, Amsterdam, Bangkok and Singapore.
