In the turn of the 20th century there was the Escolta, the prime business district in the Philippines. Before World War 2 it shifted to Quiapo and Avenida (Santa Cruz) areas.
After the war, Cubao was born, followed by the development of Makati and the Ortigas Center.
The new century has given rise to Eastwood in Libis. But today, it is Bonifacio Global City in Taguig that is the latest prime business location and yuppy hang out.
Roaming around the area, sometimes I forget I am living in the 3rd world.
