Having the distinction of having the longest Christmas celebration, Filipinos find lots of ways to commemorate it in the most perfect and unforgettable one. Some folks go on a vacation and spend it out of town and some just choose to spend it at their homes together with family and friends.
Here in our country, there are wide array of places to visit that will surely make your holiday more blissful and memorable. For many Filipinos, famous destinations are amusement parks like the well-known Star City in Pasay and Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa Laguna. These parks are frequented by thousands of people, especially during Christmas season, as the special places where Filipinos can spend quality bonding time with their loved ones.
Star City
Since I was a little girl, I have been fond of adventure and exciting activities. Because of this, my brother always brings me to some of the amusement parks in Manila and one of them is the well-known Star City. It has been the favorite destination of my family to spend free time in when we were still living in Manila. I still remember when they were too afraid of the rides and just watched my brother and I while riding.
Star City is a family-oriented 35,000 square meter amusement park next to the Cultural Center of the Philippines in Pasay City. The book Lonely Planet: Philippines describe the park as "'a decent amusement park right in the heart of the CCP Complex, although it also tends to get crowded."
We heard and watched from different local news that Star City is one of the famous destinations during Christmas season. Because of its variety of attractions including kiddie rides, a playground, Winter Funland, Dino Island, Star Theater, miniature train rides, a go-kart track, four roller coasters and many more, tourists could enjoy the adventure of the park in many ways. There is also Snow World, with freezing temperatures and with carved ice slides for kids, carved ice statues, ice castles and igloos, and Dino Island that contains a small museum with prehistoric artifacts.
Enchanted Kingdom
Since we have a retreat house in Sta. Rosa Laguna, if we have time and extra money we visit Enchanted Kingdom to spend special holidays and occasions although the last time I visited Enchanted Kingdom was when I was in 4th year college during our educational tours and field trips.
Wikipedia says the park was conceptualized by the Landmark Entertainment Group and modeled after Knott's Berry Farm. It was built at a cost of P1.2-billion and first opened on October 19, 1995. Some of the famous rides are the Disk-O-Magic, Rio Grande Rapids, Jungle Log Jam, and Space Shuttle. The park features spectacular fireworks display during weekends and Philippine Holidays.
Amusement parks are indeed some of the most interesting destinations during the Christmas season and are worth a try. They are ideal place to treat your kids. Whether you are coming with family or friends, amusement parks have a wide range of attractions that will suit your interest.
