(March 30, 2013)
We commemmorated yesterday as the day when Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins. To remember this, we hold the senakulo or "sinakulo" to symbolize our full devotion to Jesus Christ.
I never really got to do something productive in the first week of summer vacation since I was practically a bum. I just updated my Facebook blog more that I really should and watched some movies.
And the beat of the drums outside got my attention. These were the shots I took while I was watching the scene outside. It was a yearly tradition of the devotees to contemplate on the Lenten season. And I guess I should be proud of being a "Tondo girl" because we are more considerate when it comes to a season like this.
As you can see, even the people who participated the senakulo were brave enough to hit and torture themselves. They voluntarily did it, perhaps to repent on their sins or to pray for something.
There were a lot of people outside, more than the expected number of attendees. But what I really realized that day was that Jesus never fails to forgive us, and He will never let us suffer no matter what. That He, himself suffered more than we could ever do. For every wound, every bruise, and every blood, He will still forgive and understand us. That's true LOVE. The true meaning of unconditional LOVE is GOD!
