Bohol has become one of the fastest-growing destinations in the Philippines. The island paradise is an ideal place for many visitors of all kinds and its share of attractions is truly one of the sights to behold. Bohol is also a place where most of the notable landmarks can be seen. For everyone’s knowledge, Carlos P. Garcia is one of the prominent people who called Bohol his home. And to commemorate his great contributions in Philippine society, Pres. Carlos P. Garcia Memorial Park was developed.
The Memorial Park
Pres. Carlos P. Garcia Memorial Park in Tagbilaran City was erected as a joint undertaking of Boholanos from all over the country and abroad in loving memory of the greatest Boholano, Carlos Polistico Garcia, the fourth President of the Republic of the Philippines and the first President of the 1971 Constitutional Convention. The park sits on a hilly terrain with an area of 11 hectares, the place chosen by the late president himself in 1939 when he was governor of Bohol.
On the park is the exquisite monument of marble base and a life-size bronze statue of Garcia. The statue was made by Bohol’s famous sculptor and national artist Napoleon Abueva. In the background of the park is the provincial capital.
