The Church of Baao was built in 1684 at Baao, Camarines Sur. This church was built at the junction of Langday and Bahay rivers. It was constructed strongly but was ruined by the typhoon in 1706, until 1731 when the town itself was moved to its present site from Binauaanan and a new church of stone was erected in that year. This was damaged by the earthquake in 1811 but was repaired in 1850. Its belfry was rebuilt in 1848.

Baao as Parish

Baao Church is founded as a separate parish in 1793 up to the present time, it had 62 curates including interim appointees. Father Demetrio Martirez occupied the longest position as parish priest of Baao. He held the curacy for 29 years from 1941 to 1970.

How to get there

By Air: The province of Camarines Sur can be reached by plane within 45 minutes. Flights are serviced by Air Philippines (Pal Express), Zest Air and Cebu Pacific from Manila to Naga City Airport.

By Land: Aircon and non-aircon buses from PhilTranco, Isarog Bus Co. and Peñafrancia Bus Lines ply routes daily through the Quirino Highway from Manila to Naga.

From Naga City, the easiest way to go to Baao is to ride a bus going to Iriga City from the Naga City Central Bus Terminal and disembark at Baao bus stop. Commuter rail services are provided by PNR serving from Naga City as its terminus and stops at Baao Station up to Ligao City in Albay then back again northward to Naga.
