It is one of Nayong Pilipino's several museums exhibits the different cultural attractions in the country and showcases ethnological objects and artifacts which form part of the country's rich and diverse cultural heritage – Philippine Museum of Ethnology.

Philippine Museum of Ethnology

The Museum is a reorganization of the Museum of Philippine Traditional Cultures which was inaugurated in 1972 under the auspices of the PANAMIN (Presidential Arm for National Minorities). It was reopened in 1986 under the new administration of the Nayong Filipino Foundation.

Aside from the exhibits of cultural attractions, the museum also displays tourism products in the country through several small museums built inside the main museum. It features indigenous costumes and ethnographic collections of various cultural minorities and presents an overview of both the diversity and similarity of weaving traditions in the country.

Visitors can have a full view of living mannequins dressed in elaborate ethnic costumes demonstrating aspects of the cultures they represent. They can also participate in the lectures on how to put on the Muslim garment called malong, or how to beat a kulintang (set of Muslim gongs) or coax music out of an ifugao nose flute.

Getting Around

The Museum is located at MIA Road near the old Manila International Airport and the Philippine Village Hotel.

The Light Rail Transit (LRT-1) is the fastest and cheapest way to get from Manila to Pasay. From its station in Monumento, the LRT traverses the Rizal Avenue Ext. in Caloocan going to the City of Manila all the way up to Pasay City.
Public transportation within the city, like in most of the urban areas in the Philippines, is facilitated mostly using inexpensive jeepneys and buses. Tricycles (motorbikes with an attached two seater carriage) are the usual transportation used for short distances, while Taxi cabs are used by the upper middle class. The roads are organized around a set of long narrow and circumferential roads that radiate and circle in and around the city.
