Have you been to the largest multi-arts festival in the country? It is known the Pasinaya Festival, celebrated annually at the Cultural Center of the Philippines and is the largest arts gathering in the country. Every year, thousands of visitors coming from all over the country join CCP as they celebrate the Pasinaya, which aims to promote the importance of arts and culture in the country.
Various media like panitikan.com.ph have made extensive awareness efforts along with the CCP for this year's Cultural Center of the Philippines' "Pasinaya 2012: CCP Open House Festival" as it made its mark in the history of the Philippines as one of the biggest and grandest events that brings Philippine artists all over the country in a celebration of music, dance, theater, visual film, literary, workshops, and a lot more. Pasinaya Festival is a celebration of Arts month, which featured almost 5000 artists and 300 shows just in a single day.
Berniemack Arellano at habagatcentral.com covers the event and features its many highlights, with La Cultura Ilongga as this year's feature. Highlights of the event are some of Ilonggo performances and art groups with the Dinagyang Festival as its main feature. Dinagyang Festival 2012 1st runner-up, Tribu Lunok of Iloilo City National High School, performed six times the whole day. Ramon Obusan’s Folkloric Group have shown Pasundayag sang Panay wherein they depicted the culture of Panay Island from the epics. Other Ilonggo artists performed and awed their audiences with their moves and music.
Ilonggo performances and thousand of artists will be led by the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and their resident companies, namely the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Symphony Orchestra, Philippine Ballet Theatre, Bayanihan Philippine National Folk Dance Company, Tanghalang Pilipino, Ballet Philippines, Philippine Madrigal Singers, Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group, National Music Competitions for Young Artists, and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra.
The annual Pasinaya celebration is a day-long event (8am to 8pm) where one has a lot of choices to watch and experience. Like in Nayong Pilipino, spotted in the area are different cultures from different areas of the Philippines. You may also view the different Asian musical instruments and other Filipino cultural mementos inside Diwa: Buhay Ritwal at Sining at the CCP Musuem. It also features workshops, film screenings, visual arts exhibitions and some activities for children. Higantes Festival of Angono also participated this year.
An experience of CCP is good, but an exploration of Pasinaya is definitely one of the best experiences to have. Held last 26th of February 2012, it is indeed a great event for many Filipinos to be able to watch very unique performances coming from different Philippine artists from all over the country.
