Panagbenga 2013

The 18th annual celebration of the Baguio Flower Festival, popularly known as the Panagbenga Festival, was celebrated in full earnest by the people of Baguio and were hosts to thousands of visitors local and foreign alike.  The Panagbenga Festival is a month-long annual flower festival in Baguio, the summer capital of the Philippines. Panagbenga is thought to be a Malayo-Polynesian word of origin, meaning "season of blooming."

For an entire month, there were many events in line with the festival, like street dancing, shows, expositions and fairs.  The festival culminated with the grand parade along Session Road and Harrison Road and all around Burnham Park.  A total of 17 floats lavingly decorated with the region's pride, fresh flowers, were paraded along the city's most important districts.  The floats themselves were spectacular as they were decorated with an amazing variety of orchids, Malaysian mums, carnations, chrysanthemums, roses and many others.  Personalities, like Shamcey Supsup, rode on top of these floats and waved to the adoring crowd.
