The Pamulinawen Festival is the annual fiesta of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. Held every early week of February, the fiesta commemorates St. William the Hermit, the patron saint of Laoag, whom residents believe the one who saved Laoag from calamities.
Pamulinawen is the name of a woman made popular in the classic Ilocano song entitled, Pamulinawen. "Pamulinawen” is the most popular song among Ilocanos. There is no genuine Ilocano, who does not know the song by heart. Because of its appeal to the Ilocanos, it has become the regional theme song of Ilocandia.
The Pamulinawen festival's highlight is a parade and a street-dance competition, from a Civic Military Parade to Street Pageantry, float competition, sports activities, searches and coronation rights, zarzuela, concert, cook fest and others. This attracts tourists and local people from uptown that help Laoag improve their tourism.
