Mount Matarem is an extinct volcano 495 meters tall. It is eight kilometers from Basco. The name Matarem means “steep” because the trails of the mountain are really rugged, rough, and steep.
What can you see?
Visiting the mountain will give you an enticing view of a pastureland that has verdant grass as far as the eyes can see.
The mountain’s summit is not that high but it offers a beautiful view of Batan Island, with features like:

• Fundacion Pacita House
• Rakuh-a-Payaman (Marlboro Country)
• The municipality of Ivana, Uyugan, Basco, and Mahatao
