Traces of history abound in the province of Rizal, and "La Commandancia de Morong" stands as a reminder to the people of the heritage endowed to them through the ages.
"La Commandancia" was the seat of the central government of the Distrito Politico Militar de Morong run by a Military Governor during the Spanish era. The La Commandancia was built in 1880 and finished in 1881 under the leadership of Mauricio Mata Cruz, the Gobernadorcillo of Pueblo de Morong. After World War II, the building was almost ruined by the war. It was restored and re-built to its original form and it is used as the center of the government of Morong, Rizal up to this day.
