The rich cultural diversity of the Koronadal people of South Cotabato is mirrored through their festivals. The colorful and lively festivals of the city are some of the major attractions in this vibrant part of the Philippines.  This year’s Koronadal celebration marks its 72nd founding anniversary and the 13th Hinugyaw Festival.

By virtue of Proclamation 525 signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Jr. on December 13, 2012, Malacanang declared January 10, which falls on a Thursday, as a special non-working day in Koronadal City. The holiday will give the people of Koronadal City the full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion.

Now on its 13th year, the Hinugyaw Festival on January 4-10, 2013, dubbed as the “Festivals of festivals”, it presents the Southern Mindanao's very meaningful and colorful arts, food, culture, and tradition. It is a week-long celebration of Marbeleño Mardi Gras where different festivals from all over Mindanao are part of this big event.

The big event featured Drumline Competition, the search for Lakambini ng Koronadal 2013, and the much anticipated Piyesta Korona (Korona Festival) - a mix of street dancing, mardi gras and float competitions. Here is the Hinugyaw Festival Schedule of Activities:
