The province of Bulacan is well known for its historic caves. Biak na Bato is one of the country’s ecological and historical treasures. Literally known as “split boulders,” it was the mountain hideout of the Filipino revolutionary forces during the Spanish regime.
The challenging rock formations of the park appeal to the adventurous spirit of tourists. The 2,100-hectare national park offers various ecological attractions including hanging bridges and staircases connecting rivers and caves, winding streams, cascading waterfalls, and thick forests. Hundreds of caves are made for pleasurable exploration, like Bahay Paniki Cave, Aguinaldo Cave, Madium Cave, and Tanggapan which was the hideout of Aguinaldo and other revolutionary fighters during the Filipino-Spanish War. The place is very ideal for environment exploration and exposure with its cave systems, forests, river systems, and mountains.
Pinagrealan Cave in Minuyan, Norzagaray is one of the famous caves in Bulacan next to Biak na Bato. Like Biak na Bato, Pinagrealan cave is also rich in history. It is known for its significant contribution during the Spanish revolution. Its geographical location, surrounded by hills, fulfilled a major consideration for the Katipuneros to use it as one of the camps and hideouts of General Emilio Aguinaldo during the Filipino-Spanish War in 1898. It was also a sanctuary of the Japanese Imperial Army when the Philippines were liberated by American Forces.
Be an explorer!
Calumpit River has for centuries shaped the lives of Bulakeños. The longest river system in Bulacan, Calumpit River traverses the towns of Calumpit, Pulilan and Plaridel on the east, Paombong and Hagonoy in the West and winds up through Apalit, Macabebe and Masantol, Pampanga. It was the major route for trade and commerce in this part of the country, making Calumpit an established barangay prior to the coming of Spanish conquistadors. The Pampanga and Quingua Rivers served as arteries through which goods coming in and going out of Calumpit passed. At present, the river is a valued resource as a rich fishing ground and providing farmers with irrigation.
Verdivia Falls, located in Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan, Philippines, is a popular Ecological tourist attraction. The splendid waterfall is an ideal venue for group picnics and outings.
