Explore Buhanginan Hill

Head up to the Buhanginan Hill of Iligan where the highest elevation within the city proper is found. The hill stands approximately 130 feet above sea level. It is a landform that extends above the surrounding terrain of Barangay Pala-o.

Two important buildings are nested in Buhanginan Hill, namely the Iligan City Hall (the city municipal building) and Anahaw Amphitheater.

Iligan City Hall holds different offices including the city mayor, vice-mayor, and city councilors. There are also other department offices of the city government here.

Being one of the largest open-air amphitheaters in the island of Mindanao, the Anahaw Amphitheater is a venue for theater, sports tournaments, celebrations, and other activities.  It is situated in the Southeastern side of the hill,

Anahaw Amphitheater is also the venue for Iligan’s annual Kasadya Street Dancing Showdown. Thousands of people are brave enough to face the heat of the sun every year just to witness the dancers perform here. Now it became one of the main attractions in Iligan.

Buhanginan Hill is a favorite promontory for Iliganons for viewing the sunset or skyline of the city by night. Its romantic ambiance is good for lovers because it is a perfect site to watch beautiful sunsets and to stargaze.

At the top of the hill is a children’s playground where children can be themselves and play to their hearts content.  It is the perfect place for leisure for families and friends and have family picnics and bonding during holidays and special occasions.

The steepness of the hill is also a good place for hikers who want a different adventure and trekking experience. For early-morning joggers, the road going to the top of the Buhanginan Hill is a favorite destination.
