Remember the song "Yellow Submarine" by the Beatles? You may find yourself singing this tune once you find yourself exploring the depths of the sea off the coast of Mactan. You may be surprised to discover that a Cebu-based company has recently introduced the first submarine tours here in the Philippines.
The Cebu Yellow Submarine and Undersea Tour Corporation told the media last week that they have finally received the certificate of accreditation from the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) that will let them accept passengers to go on trips aboard the “Cebu Yellow Submarine,” the only submarine tour in the Philippines.
The yellow submarine can go as deep as 100 meters below the surface and can accommodate up to 48 passengers. The company ensures the safety of the passengers, and they also make sure to keep away from the reef so as not to disturb the marine life.
Tourists who want to go onboard the submarine can purchase tickets at their main office located at Imperial Palace Resort in Maribago, Mactan Island, Cebu. The company will be offering tours at a promo price of P 1, 200 for ages 14 and above and P 800 for children between five to 13 years old. They will not be charging children under four years old and below.
