Located in Calamba City, one of the most progressive cities in Laguna, Canossa Academy is one of the first Catholic schools in the city and since its founding has become one of the most recognizable landmarks of the province.
Canossa Academy: Background
Due to the urgent need to build an academic institution within the province of Laguna, the Dominican Fathers, through Rev. Fr. Jose Rios, OP, donated three hectares of land to the Canossian congregation to build a school. The said place is around a meter or two from Calamba highways and is sprawled at the foot of Mt. Makiling.
The Canossa Academy, formerly known as Mater Dei, officially opened its doors to students in 1964. Among its pioneering founders were Sisters M. Carolina Colombo, M. Natalia Fioriolli, M. Maria Fracasso and M. Mirriam Tavecchio. In 1972, the old name Mater Dei was changed to Canossa Academy.
Since then up to today, the Canossa Academy offers pre-elementary, elementary and high school education for both boys and girls.
Charity Involvement
In line with Canossa Academy's other charity involvement, the Canossa Alay Pag-ibig Center was opened in 1985 to aid the poor community in Laguna. The Center has been committed to provide educational, medical and income-generating services to the underprivileged.
Some of the newest projects of the Canossa Alay Pag-ibig Center include the involvement of the youth in various outreach activities to promote solidarity and cooperation.

The Canossa Academy was granted PAASCU Accreditation in 1995 for elementary level and 1996 for the highschool level.
