Biliran is a province in the Philippines located in the Eastern Visayas region. An island province, Biliran lies just a few kilometers north of Leyte Island. Its capital is Naval. Biliran is one of the country's smallest and newest provinces, being formerly a part or sub-province of Leyte until achieving full-fledged provincehood in 1992. Being relatively unspoiled and abundant in natural wonders, Biliran's beautiful landscape is home to some of the most amazing waterfalls in the Philippines, a few of which are described below.
Tinago Waterfalls can be found in Barangay Cabibihan, municipality of Caibiran. This falls is so called because it is hidden, but finding it can be one of the most exhilarating experiences one can have. It is inside a forest and is accessed through a trail from the highway. Concrete stair trails have since been made for the benefit of visitors. Tinago Waterfalls is a great site to feel the serenity of nature as well as witness its sheer power.
Busay Falls
Hidden away in the forests of kawayan is the scenic Busay Falls, often named as the highest waterfalls in the province. Located in the tranquil town of Kawayan, this waterfall has multiple tiers with white gushing water at an elevation of over 800 feet. At the base, the cool clear spring water collects in a marvelous pool where the intrepid visitor can soak and bathe to wash away the sweat and fatigue they may have accumulated during the trip.
Kasabangan Falls
Barangay Balaguid in the municipality of Cabucgayan is home to Kasabanga Falls, a wonder of nature around 15 meters high surrounded by forest growth. It is comprised of several smaller falls and is made up of 13 layers. Some cottages where one can rest and take in the view were constructed to accomodate visitors.
