It's a very significant Saturday for us, Vigattins, because we had four guests in our Vigattin Radio Program!
First of, Mr. Jon Nicholas Lao of BBQ Republic talked about his restaurant along Wilson St., Greenhills. We noticed that my previous write-up about BBQ Republic here has gotten so many likes, so we decided to bring Sir Jon on air to further promote his business. If you want information about BBQ Republic, just visit this link: BBQ Republic
During the program's next segment, we discussed the state of Information Technology in the country with Dr. Lloyd Espiritu and Prof. Mavic Pineda of College of Computer Studies DLSU, and Mr. Lawrz Libo-on, President of the Philippine Opensource Network. We tackled FOSS or Free and Open Source Software and website contents with Creative Commons license like wikipilipinas.org. Contrary to popular belief, FOSS is almost at the same level as commercial software when it comes to functionality and usability. It is also a big help to aspiring programmers because they can see the source code, learn from it, and improve it as well. We also talked about the competency of Filipino IT practitioners on global scale. Our country is still in need of innovators and developers. Majority of the people are just consumers and users, but since we are a community, we have to contribute something as well.
Also, thanks a lot to our texters and commenters who joined our discussion. Again, stay tuned next Saturday for another hour of relevant IT talk in the Vigattin Radio Program at DZIQ Radyo Inquirer 990 AM, 10-11 AM.
