The province of Cagayan in the northern Philippines is usually known for its spectacular mountains an valleys, but few do know that it holds many spectacular beaches that can compare to those of the rest of the world. Anquib Beach in the barangay of San Vicente, town of Santa Ana in Cagayan definitely fits this description as a place worth visiting.
The municipality of Sta. Ana hosts part of the Cagayan Special Economic Zone, where intense commercial and industrial activity is underway. It has a number of gaming facilities, historical tourist attractions, and many beautiful white sand beaches. Santa Ana is known as the Game Fishing hub of the Philippines thanks to its great, clear waters of the Philippine Sea just teeming with life.
Anguib Beach has become the pride of the town, as it's scenic features have earned it the nickname of Boracay of the north. The amazingly blue, clear waters of the Philippine Sea meet up with the fine, white sand along its shores. Situated in a cove, the waters are tranquil and exude serenity like no other. Waves are usually as gentle as the wind that passes over the surface. All around the beach, palm trees and other foliage provide cover under the tropical sun, adding even more allure to this enchanting landscape.
The beach is perfect for swimming and playing under the sun as the beach is shallow enough for even the little ones to enjoy and the waves are mild. The beach is still undeveloped as there are still very few structures there. There are cottages for people to stay in. There is still no electricity on the island, so people need to bring essentials whenever they can. Because of this as well, there are no overnight accommodations so visitors have to go back before night comes.
Development has not taken a hold much here and its nature has not yet been spoiled as much, so the waters are still resplendent with marine life, which one can see over the surface: the waters are that clear. Different kinds of fish, shells, corals, and other invertebrates can be seen in their true environment, and snorkeling and diving are the best ways to enjoy yourself here as well as get close and personal with nature.
To get there, the usual way would be to take a bus from Manila to Sta. Ana, Cagayan, then a boat ride from San Vicente Port to the beach. It can be a long trip, but those who have already been there have said that it was all worth it and that Anguib Beach is indeed a paradise worthy of praise.
