A Panoramic view from Mt. Natib
Overview
Mount Natib can be found in the the beautiful province of Bataan. This mountain is an inactive volcano. It occupies the northern part of the Bataan Peninsula and has a height of 1,253 meters or 4,111 feet.
The area of the mountain is considered one of the protected areas in the Philippines and declared as the first National Park in the province.
This is one of the popular and favorite hiking destinations in Bataan, which is very close to Manila. From Orani Public Market, the mountain is reachable in just about an hour by riding a jeep. The site is very extensive and abundant in green vegetation. The trek to the mountain is comfortable because the area is so spacious but expect a steep and rocky trail while hiking. A trail shelter is also accessible for overnight stays and visitors can pitch a tent in the area. Moreover, local guides usually accompany the tourists for overnight climbing.
The environment showcases a wide grasslands. At the top of the mountain, you can spot a breathtaking view of the province, such as the fresh oceans, thick forests, blue skies, and the houses built at the foot of the mountain. It is also a home of different kinds of flora and fauna. Migratory birds can be seen at the mountain.
Along the trail, you can see a landmark known as “Pinagbutasan”. You can reach the location of the said landmark in about an hour. Its name was derived from the wall which has a hole or “butas”. You can enter this hole where you can get a source of water.
Aside from Pinagbutasan, another spot is the Pasukulan Falls. You shouldn’t miss to visit the the waterfall because it is a refreshing complement to your tiring climb.

How to Get Here
Mount Natib is reachable from NLEX (North Luzon Express Way) in San Fernando Exit. You should take the Gapan-Olongapo Highway. When you reach the Layac Junction, take the Roman Superhighway; the travel is more or less 10 minutes to Tala-Orani Junction. You need to turn right to Brgy. Tala where the jump-off point and PASU-DENR monitoring station are located. From the station, you can trek Mount Natib for approximately 3 hours before you reach the summit.
