I was so excited last Wednesday night as Sir Eli and I boarded the plane to Cebu. We were going to represent Vigattin Inc. as one of the sponsors of the 15th PSITE National Convention, one of the largest gatherings of IT practitioners, professionals, and enthusiasts in the country. It was my first time to ride an airplane and also my first time to attend a huge convention like this.
So, we arrived at the hotel at 12mn and woke up really early on Thursday morning to catch up with the on-site registration. After setting up our exhibit table, we waited for the program to start and chatted with a few deans and professors mostly from PSITE-NCR. We were glad to see some familiar faces like Sir John Ruero, Sir Samuel Chua, and Sir Mhel Erise. Hello thar! :D
The program started at 1.30pm, after everyone has taken their lunch. Mr. Dave Marcial, VP for Visayas and this year's convention chair, welcomed all the attendees. I was surprised to know that every region in the country has representatives in this event. Everyone has really given their time and effort to attend the 15th PSITE NatCon. Hon. Michael Rama, city mayor of Cebu, made a very inspiring and humorous talk about technology and nation-building. Mr. Randy Gamboa, the current PSITE President, also gave his welcome speech and a rundown of what we could expect in this 3-day convention. It was followed by keynote speaker Dr. Paulino Tan, chairman of the technical panel of CHED, discussing updates on the academe. Some plenary speakers also talked about their region's PEER agenda and other organizational matters.
