Last Monday November 17, the biggest Tech event of the year kicked off at Pico de loro Beach Resort, Nasugbu, Batangas. It was a whole day event (9am-8pm) jam-packed with inspiring talks, exciting breakout sessions, awesome gadget raffles, and party with celebrity guests.
The event was sponsored by Smart Enterprise, PLDT SME Nation, Sun Business and ePLDT with the partnership of ABM Global Solutions, IPC, Voyager, Ideaspace, Microsoft Philippines and Cisco Systems Inc.
Tech Island event was attended by different people and companies who are into business and technology. The place of the event was really great. Upon arrival at the resort, warm greetings and drumbeats from the band welcomed guests. The venue of the program was filled with different booths by participating companies and organizations but the program held in the plenary hall.
The purpose of this event was to strengthen the Small Medium Enterprise (SME) and introduce technology into business.
The morning program, hosted by Ms. Grace Lee, was full of inspiring words from two well-known speakers from the industry. The first speaker was Mr. Gray Whitehill, Founder and CEO of Entrepreneur Week, and he talked about startups, goals, dreams, and success in business and innovation. He presented great ideas on starting up a business, building sustainable business, successful business and even embracing technology in business. Mr. Gray also tackled why a lot of companies are falling because of many mistakes and lack of understanding in the business.
The next speaker was Mr. Paul Pajo, Developer Evangelist at Smart Communications. He gave impressive ideas on these words such as curating, collaborative collisions and consciously which have relevance in the discussions. There were fun and exciting activities during his talk.
Mr. Paul asked everyone in the plenary hall to stand, meet new people and make connections. It was the time that everyone started to feel comfortable, laughing and talking. His presentation emphasized that connections and networking are definitely significant in the rising of business.
The afternoon program had another exciting part called “Breakout sessions”. After lunch break, attendees were divided into three seminars according to the topic chosen upon registration. The discussions were all about Disaster Defiance, Creative Collaboration and Seamless Process Integration which are actually momentous in strengthening SME and introduction of technology. This part was very interactive because after the speakers with their presentations, and people have given a chance to throw questions.
After the inspiring talk and activity in the plenary hall, guests were instructed to go the beach area. At the beach, the sea and its backdrop were really amazing and breathtaking. Everyone was allowed to use the amenities of the resort. Towels were also provided for those who want to swim. Food and drinks were served at the beach.
The beach party was hosted by Ms. Roxanne Barcelo, a celebrity guest. The party was filled with fun and excitement such as games, raffle promos, performances and fireworks display. Those who won the games and raffle draws, they received surprising prizes like Samsung Chromebooks, TVs, tablets and smartphones. The program ended with a surprising fireworks display.
Just to add, Pico de loro Beach Resort and staff gave us over all rewarding accommodation and experience from the arrival to the place until the departure.
